The Grammys: U2, Green Day & Kelly "Ingrate" Clarkson

U2 dominated the 48th Annual Grammy Awards. The band took home five major awards last night:

Album of the Year: How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
Best Rock Album: How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
Song of the Year: "Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own"
Best Rock Performance by a Group: "Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own"
Best Rock Song: "City of Blinding Lights"

Also noteworthy, Green Day won Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and Mariah Carey was deservedly shut out of most of the major awards for which she was nominated.

I'll have to say I am happy with the Grammy voters' decisions... I'll take a slightly-past-their-prime U2 and Green Day over Mariah Carey any day!

During her two acceptance speeches, American Idol winner, Kelly "Ingrate" Clarkson made no mention of the very show that launched her career. I find that interesting... Is she too cool now? Did she forget from whence she came? Without American Idol, Kelly Clarkson would still be waiting tables in BF, Texas.

Ironically, American Idol destroyed the Grammys in the ratings last night. It captured 28.3 million viewers while the Grammy Awards snagged a mere 15.1 million. It looks like "Joe Lunchbox" prefers amateur hour over pro ball by nearly a two-to-one margin!
