Chef No Longer Cooking in South Park

Isaac Hayes, the voice of Chef on South Park, says he is leaving the hit show due to its constant skewering of religion.

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old singer and outspoken Scientologist said.

South Park co-creator Matt Stone commented, "In ten years and over 150 episodes of South Park, Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslim, Mormons or Jews. He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion (Scientology) featured on the show." Stone is referring to last year's "Trapped in the Closet" episode which lampoons Scientology and features a cartoon Tom Cruise and John Travolta. As with most South Park episodes, many people were offended but no one was killed...

"Trapped in the Closet" is actually airing again on Wednesday (Is this a coincidence or what!) at 10:00pm on Comedy Central. South Park's tenth season is set to begin on March 22nd.
