The Da Vinci Code Opens Huge

If initial estimates hold, The Da Vinci Code pulled in over $30,000,000 on Friday night. This would be 2006's single biggest day at the box office. Expect the film's overall weekend take to be the biggest of the year.

I *knew* the Catholic calls for a boycott would really keep people away from the theaters!!! there's nothing like a couple weeks of screaming "don't see this movie!" to make sure that folks stay away!!!! keep up the good work, catholic protesters!!! go now, and sin no more!!!!

That's called the "Mapelthorpe" marketing strategy.
