Idol's Chris Daughtry Signs Record Deal

After turning down an offer to front the alternative rock band Fuel, Chris Daughtry has signed a record deal with Clive Davis and 19 Recordings Unlimited, the record label managed by American Idol creator Simon Fuller. Daughtry is now busy writing and collaborating. The album is due later this year. I guess coming in fourth place isn't so bad after all...

Rock on CD! I'll be the first one in line to buy it. Any word, will he be playing with band members from AE? Or is this all new stuff?

They say he is working with industry "A-listers". I am speculating that means AbsentElement isn't involved.

I am sure Chris will ditch them with the same speed and prejudice that I would have dismissed my former bandmates had I been offered a recording contract.

Amen to that!! Of course, record industry execs rarely offer contracts to guys who can only barely play power chords in a half-assed cover band...
