TV Wasteland / It's Only TV Wasteland

I hope you have plenty of shows stored up on your Tivos because there is not going to be much on TV for the next couple weeks!

Speaking of storing things up on Tivo, I have noticed that my movie renting has sunk to historical lows. In the past, I typically rented at least one movie per week. Now, with my Tivo constantly recording top notch entertainment, I always seem to always have something to watch. Will Tivo kill Blockbuster? I think it might...

The only thing that has saved BlockBuster for us is the death of Late Fees. With the kids, we would always get interrupted in a movie, and continually put it off to another night. Before long, we'd have it for 4 days and still not have watched it. Paying 12 bucks to rent a movie you didn't even watch was becoming commonplace (and painful).

Knowing now that I have the freedom of a couple days or even a week, I'm getting back in the groove of renting. (picked up 2 last night - hope to see by end of the weekend).

That said, I still get a chuckle every time when the lady hands me the DVD and says, "This is due back on Thursday by noon". I'm like, ok, see ya Sunday night.

I do wonder... with Tivo providing more and more "networked" services. Will we ever see a day when we can get movies on demand thru Tivo? That would be sweet for us non-cable box users.

Actually there is supposed to be a Blockbuster/Tivo deal. It might be dead or possibly still in testing.

Tivo has so many of these partnership announcements that I tend to forget them after awhile.

I am sure Tivo will have some form of movie download system in place sometime in 2007. XBox360 is already doing it! In HD no less!

This post reminds me of my favorite Christmas poem of about 2 seconds ago:

With good TV on the lam
The PS2 gets more use once again

WM,

Lam and again???? Did you make up that awful poem??? Anyway...

You should be catching up on all of the South Park seasons you have missed. Comedy Central and WXIX both show repeats of SP.

You and Cartman are eerily similar...
