Gasolicious

In response to the tragic suicide of WWE superstar Chris Benoit and his strangulation and smothering of his wife and son, gas prices skyrocketed 25 to 30 cents per gallon on Monday.

As a nation struggles to make sense of this horrible incident, why would the oil companies hit us with such a huge increase? An Exxon/Mobile spokeswoman intimated that they are simply trying to divert our attention away from the tragedy. "If it helps the people heal, we'll gladly be a lightning rod for people's anger and hopefully allow them to move on from Benoit's passing."

I believe the tragedy they were trying to avert us from was Paris Hilton's exit from jail.

I'll let hoi polloi joke about Paris. I will take the high road and try to find the silver lining in a murder/suicide...
