HD DVD vs Blu-ray Update

As expected, the big price drop of HD-DVD players last weekend gave a huge boost to the HD DVD camp. Toshiba reported big sales of both the HD-A2 and its successor the HD-A3.

After the Christmas numbers are in, it will be clear that HD DVD will win the format war over Blu-ray. Sony's arrogant pricing is going to cost them once again! More at BetaNews...

I'm confused, so the $100 A2 was only priced that for the weekend? I assume it's too late to get it now? Are they expected to drop the price again on it? If it happens again, I'd be all over it.

Yes... I am sure it will be available again on Black Friday. Possibly even before.

However, the better deal is going to be the HD-A3 for $149 - $169. It comes with an additional 7 to 10 Hd-DVD movies depending on where it's purchased.

That's fine. But Sony refuses to budge on price. Toshiba is aggressively reducing the prices on its hardware. After the dust settles from X-mas, HD-DVD will take the lead going into 2008. By this time next year, Blu-ray will be a minor player and will be losing in all sales categories. Trust me!
